​Karhatiron Perkins is a Mohawk artist from Akwesasne, New York, and a proud member of the Turtle Clan. Akwesasne, situated along the Saint Lawrence River, lies within Mohawk territory, part of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy that spans upstate New York, southern Ontario, and Quebec. His Mohawk name, Karhatiron, translates to "His Presence is in the Forest." Surrounded by the rich cultural heritage of his community, Karhatiron developed a passion for art at a young age. After years of self-guided learning, he chose to refine and expand his creative abilities at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. To share his work, he founded The Radically Fearless, an LLC that provides a platform for his art. Karhatiron specializes in woodworking, particularly in the creation of rattles and cradleboards, which he personalizes with Haudenosaunee designs and clan symbols through the technique of woodburning. His acrylic paintings explore surrealism, deeply rooted in his cultural identity. In addition, his sculptural works build upon the themes and narratives present in his paintings, offering a multidimensional approach to his artistic expression.
